A few years later, I co-founded Jewel-Craft, Inc., a retail jewelry store located

in Miramar, Florida.  Our store catered to custom jobs conceived by our clientele.

Though my duties included the administrative side of the business, sales, etc., I

found time to create my own line of jewelry.

By 1984, I began doing more and more freelance work for other jewelry stores

and manufacturing companies.  This period of time presented the opportunity for me

to do a few wax demonstrations for some jewelry clubs.  It was so successful that

I was asked to give some 2 and 3 day workshops at some of the local colleges in the

area.   Teaching was a rewarding experience for me.  As a child, I had dreamed of

becoming a teacher, and this experience validated that I would have done well in

that career choice, had I pursued that path.

In 1995, I went to work for Mayers of Hollywood.  This manufacturing company

produced expensive, fine jewelry. I had come full circle, and was back where

I started, doing master models for mass production.

In 1998, I was hired by Bere' Jewelers to be their designer and wax person.  They had two locations, and I did all the custom work for both stores.  My boss, Ray Jones, had been collecting gemstones for years, and had many ideas he wanted brought to life. Together, we collaborated to bring his visions to fruition.  He became my biggest fan!   I worked for Bere' eight years before one fateful day, Ray collapsed and died of a heart attack. His death was a shock to everyone.  He had a charismatic personality full of life and fun, was generous, compassionate and sincere. He will truly be missed by all that knew him.

I went on to start my own business, Cheryl Lombard Designs, in August of 2005.  I have found this venture to be exciting, and love working with other business owners in creating special pieces for their customers.  I am truly blessed to be where I am right now, doing what I love.  I'll never take these blessings for granted. I have a wonderful network of family, close friends, great customers, a job I love, and good health.  Who could ask for more?

I began my career in jewelry in 1976,working for Loren Manufacturing Company,

located in Hollywood, Florida.  They produced master models for companies all

over the world.  It was there that I became an apprentice to a Wax Master

Modelmaker.  I was taught all aspects of creating technically accurate jewelry

models in wax.  These master models were used in mass production.               The knowledge

I gained there was invaluable in directing the course of my career.
